Protect Yourself, Protect Your Identity
Your mortgage originator does not authorize the sale of your personal information without your permission. We cannot stop this practice, only you can.
- You have the right to take your name off trigger lists. Opt-Out of prescreened offers of credit and insurance.
- Exercise caution when you are presented with prescreened offers over the telephone. Ask who you are speaking with and how they got your information. Ask for offers to be sent to you in writing if you are interested.
- The mortgage process is complex - compare mortgage products and ask questions.
- Avoid being rushed or pressured into making a decision.
- Don’t sign any forms that are blank.
